Pele is a legendary figure in the world of soccer and one of the greatest players of all time. Pele was born Edson Arantes do Nascimento in Brazil in 1940, and passed away on December 29th, 2022 at the age of 82. He was given the nickname “Pele” by his father, who thought he resembled a local goalkeeper. Pele started playing soccer at a young age, and by the time he was 15, he had already signed with Santos, a professional soccer team in Brazil.

Pele quickly made a name for himself, and in 1958 he led the Brazilian national team to its first World Cup victory. He was just 17 years old, and he achieved the feat of being the youngest player ever to win the World Cup. He went on to lead the Brazilian national team to two more World Cup victories, in 1962 and 1970. He scored a total of 12 goals in World Cup matches, a record that still stands.

But what made Pele so great?

In June 1975, the New York Times reported on testing that Pele underwent, which revealed some of the secrets behind his success.
