Have you considered the role of vision in golf?

Many pros have — and have included vision in their long and short games.

From the tee shot to the final putt of the round, your eyes can make the difference between a great round and a lousy afternoon.

Why are your eyes so critical? Have you ever seen a golfer play with their eyes shut?

Sure the swing and stroke are fairly mechanical, but the eyes are crucial in determining direction and distance.

You need your eyes to give you the fine details used to create the perfect backswing and execute a shot that has the best chance to be a winner every time!

There are certainly many factors critical to golf performance.

We’ll focus on two critical vision components that you can leverage for optimal performance on the course right away

Can you see as well as Phil Mickelson?

The first area to consider is your basic visual ability.

You may think your vision is great since you can see 20/20, but do you realize that 20/20 is NOT perfect vision.

it is simply average vision? Not the average for Pro golfers, but the average vision for non-golfers

The best vision humanly possible is 20/8 — meaning that a person can see from 20 feet what the average person can see from 8 feet.

In other words, they can be 2.5 x further away and still see it!

For golf, vision at the 20/20 or 20/15 level is what you need.

If your vision is less than that, then you need to see a sports vision specialist who can prescribe the correction you need for success.

Interestingly, many golfers wear correction.

Take Phil Mickelson for example.

His most recent win at the Open Championship/British Open is another feather in a wonderful golf career (45 PGA tour wins, including 6 major championships, 3 Masters titles, and 2 PGA championships)

Many don’t realize that Mickelson wears contact lenses on the course.

While a college student at the University of Arizona, Mickelson had trouble seeing his tee shots and his fairway shots. He sought the help of an eye care specialist and was given contact lenses.

Shortly after receiving the lenses, Mickelson went on to win the 1991 Tuscon open competing as an amateur against PGA pros!

Do what Phil Mickelson does

Vision can have a dramatic effect on your golf game.

Making sure that the vision coming into the brain is ideal, and that you are taking advantage of the Quiet Eye effect can have a dramatic effect on your golf performance.

Optimizing all of your visual abilities can have a dramatic effect on your golf game.
